What ToTrip does when you ask about a police escort
People contact ToTrip about police escorts because they already trust us for vehicles, drivers and executive transport. We want to give them a straight answer. ToTrip is a vehicle rental company, based in Ikeja, Lagos. We hire out cars, SUVs, buses, pickups and armoured vehicles, with professional chauffeurs, across Lagos and Nigeria.
We do not supply police officers and we do not sell escorts. What we do is listen to your plan, direct you to the appropriate authority for the request, and supply the vehicles and drivers for your trip so that the transport side is settled while you deal with the authority.
What happens when you message us
- Tell us the plan. Send the date, the route, the number of people and the reason you are asking.
- We direct you. We point you to the authority that handles this kind of request, so that you ask the right office in the right way.
- We quote the transport. A written quote for the vehicles and drivers you need, with the price stated up front.
- We confirm in writing. Pickup times, route and contacts, so that nothing depends on memory.
What we do not do
- We do not supply police officers, and we do not arrange individual officers for private jobs.
- We do not guarantee that any request to an authority will be approved. That decision is theirs.
- We do not style our vehicles to look like police vehicles.
- We do not accept payment for an escort. Payments to ToTrip are for vehicles and drivers only, by bank transfer or card, with an invoice.
Why we answer this way
- November 2025. President Bola Tinubu ordered the immediate withdrawal of police officers attached to VIPs nationwide, to be redeployed to core policing duties. Reports said VIPs who still need protection should ask the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) for armed escorts.
- December 2025. At a Federal Executive Council meeting, ministers and senior officials who need special security arrangements were directed to contact the Inspector-General of Police and obtain clearance through the presidency.
- February 2026. The federal government announced the redeployment of police officers from VIP escort duty to frontline security work.
- July 2026. A Police Mobile Force message dated 8 July 2026 stated that the presidential order remains fully in force and that no amendment, exemption or informal understanding overrides it. Officers guarding facilities of national importance may protect only those sites.
