Totrip Car Rental is a trading name of Totrip Car Services Limited, a Lagos-based company offering car rental, airport transfers, chauffeur services, vehicle listing, and fleet/car management services across Nigeria.
This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you contact us, request a booking, or use our website, how we use it, and the choices you have. By booking a service or submitting your details through our website, WhatsApp, or phone, you agree to the practices described here.
2. Information We Collect
We collect information you provide directly to us, including:
- Full name, phone number, and WhatsApp number
- Email address (where provided)
- Pickup and drop-off locations, and travel/flight details for airport transfers
- Vehicle preference, rental dates, and booking details
- Driver's license and identification details, for customers requesting a self drive rental (see Section 6)
- Any other information you choose to include in your message to us
We do not collect card or full bank details through our website. All payments are made directly by bank transfer to our corporate accounts (see our Terms & Conditions).
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Confirm, schedule, and fulfil your booking
- Communicate with you about your reservation, pickup, or trip
- Verify your identity and driving eligibility for self drive rentals
- Assign a driver or vehicle appropriate to your request
- Respond to enquiries, complaints, or feedback
- Improve our services and customer experience
- Meet legal, regulatory, or safety obligations
5. WhatsApp & Communication
Much of our booking process happens over WhatsApp and phone calls, since this is the fastest way to confirm availability in Lagos traffic and time-sensitive airport pickups. Messages you send us on WhatsApp are used solely to process your booking and respond to your enquiry. Please avoid sending sensitive information (such as full card numbers or account PINs) over WhatsApp — we will never ask for these.
6. Driver's License & ID Information
For self drive rentals, we are required to verify that any customer who will drive one of our vehicles holds a valid driver's license. As part of this:
- We collect and verify your driver's license (a valid Nigerian license, or a valid International Driving Permit alongside your home country license for foreign nationals)
- We may request a valid means of identification (National ID, passport, or voter's card) to confirm your identity
- These details are used strictly to confirm eligibility to drive and for our records in case of an accident, traffic offence, or dispute involving the vehicle
- We do not share your license or ID details with anyone outside Totrip except where legally required (for example, in the event of a road traffic incident requiring police or insurance involvement)
Customers who book a chauffeur-driven service do not need to provide a driver's license, since our own driver operates the vehicle.
7. Data Retention
We keep your booking and identification information for as long as necessary to fulfil your booking, resolve any disputes, and meet our legal and accounting obligations, after which it is deleted or anonymised.
8. How We Protect Your Information
We take reasonable administrative and technical measures to protect your personal information from unauthorized access, alteration, or disclosure. However, no method of transmission over the internet or WhatsApp is completely secure, and we encourage you to avoid sharing sensitive financial details through these channels.
9. Your Rights
In line with the Nigeria Data Protection Act and Nigeria Data Protection Regulation (NDPR), you have the right to:
- Ask us what personal information we hold about you
- Request correction of inaccurate information
- Request deletion of your information, subject to any legal or contractual obligations we must still meet
- Withdraw consent to future communications from us

10. Cookies
Our website may use basic cookies or similar technologies required for the site to function correctly (for example, remembering your menu preferences). We do not currently use these to track you across other websites.
